Viewing the Simulation Settings

Lesson 3, page 9 of 12

Before you can carry out a simulation, you must specify how you want the model to be run. We do this by defining the simulation settings.Let's see what the settings look like for our model.

View the Simulation Settings:

  1. Open the Simulation Settings dialog by clicking on the Simulation Settings button in the toolbar:

  2. The Simulation Settings dialog is displayed:

We see that the simulation will be run for 100 days, with 100 timesteps An element that generates discrete signals based on a specified rate of occurrence. (i.e., the Basic Step is 1 day). That is, the model will be updated every day.
  3. Note: You can also open the Simulation Settings dialog by choosing Run | Simulation Settings from the main menu bar, or by pressing F2).
  4. Now click on the Monte Carlo tab. Here we see that the simulation is going to be run probabilistically for 1000 realizations:

Each realization A single model run within a Monte Carlo simulation. It represents one possible path the system could follow through time. we run will represent a different possible evolution of the pond volume.
  5. Close the dialog by pressing the OK button.
