Lesson 5 Summary
Lesson 5, page 15 of 15
The advanced features of GoldSim give you the power to create highly complex, effective simulations of any situation or event. In this Lesson, you got a glimpse of some advanced GoldSim features and concepts, including:
- Powerful features to facilitate the construction of large, complex models;
- Entering and using complex time series An Input element that allows you to specify a time series of values. data;
- Advanced probabilistic simulation A simulation in which the uncertainty in the input parameters is explicitly represented by defining them as probabilility distributions. features for realistically representing the uncertainty present in all real world systems;
- Representing complex relationships using Lookup Tables (response surfaces);
- Manipulating vectors and matrices;
- Linking to a spreadsheet or database to input or output simulation data;
- Building custom elements The basic building blocks with which a GoldSim model is constructed. Each element represents a feature, pararamer, process or event in the model. using Script An element that can be used to create a list of executable statements (e.g., variable definitions, variable assignments and statements controlling the sequence of execution such as loops and if statements) in order to implement complex logic and operations. elements;
- Creating, running and comparing different scenarios Specific sets of input data (and corresponding outputs) for a model. Different scenarios within a model are specifically differentiated by having different values for one or more Data elements. for your model;
- Enhancing your model for presentation using graphics;
- Adding Dashboards to allow others to manipulate your model using the GoldSim Player;
- Carrying out optimization and sensitivity analyses;
- Using one of GoldSim's specialized extension modules.
You're now ready to start modeling!
The next (and final) topic in this tutorial gives you some suggestions for becoming an expert GoldSim modeler.
